Fish farming facility on the island of La Palma, built for the aquaculturecompany Acuipalma, S.L. This fish farm project is a pre-growing facility for fingerlings which are then transferred to open ocean farms for fattening.
Purpose for application
The concrete tanks are located on a dock (which extends out into the ocean) in the port of Tazacorte. The process requires the use of salt water in both XS2 (submerged saltwater concrete) and XS3 (tidal, splash and spray zones) exposure conditions. These conditions present an extremely corrosive environment for concrete.
Originally, the waterproofing was specified with a different waterproofing admixture but once the advantages of Krystaline Add1 were demonstrated, the project owners decided it was time to switch.
Since the young fish require specific conditions and are very vulnerable to any environmental change, it was essential to use only
Krystaline Add1 was added on site directly to the ready-mix trucks in 1 kg water soluble bags, waterproofing a total of 800 m³ of concrete.
